Christy Landmann
Also known as @ChrisLand1405 or how she prefers: Chris, is a Brazilian-Canadian mixed media artist. She has been actively creating art since 1998.
She has a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts and a specialization in Art History (FAAP – Brazil). She also worked in the Educational Area of Pinacoteca do Estado, a very well-known museum in SP – Brazil.
Christy’s passion for art is undeniable. When she moved to Timmins in Canada, she quickly found a small art club, this gave her the opportunity to showcase her physical works in museums in Timmins and Thunder Bay, Canada.
The feeling of isolation was huge. When she learned about Crypto art in 2022, she quickly delved in Web3. That gave her the opportunity of keeping in contact with the world’s artistic scene in a new way, and having the chance of exploring new mediums, such as digital art and AI art.
She has met many people from various countries and cultures and has had the opportunity to showcase her art all over the world. She also co-hosted numerous spaces on X and considers herself a small collector.
In 2023 she started writing for Aguilar Art & NFT Magazine, seeing her childhood dream of becoming a writer come true. So far, she has written 9 articles about artists from Web3.
Christy’s artworks are permeated by her feelings, emotions, dreams, memories, injustices, and new ways of thinking, also, sometimes, delving into the unknown. Titles and definitions are incredibly important, sometimes being the key to understand the entire concept of her art. Recently she started writing poetry, she has plans to evolve in this area as well.
At first, she was very puzzled by AI art, they were beautiful images, and she had no idea how they were created. She studied and learned just enough to start questioning it. She first used lots of images and organized them doing collages. But she wasn’t very happy as she was also new to digital art. Her real question was if she could get the same results or close to it by doing them digitally, without tracing or any tricks like that. She learned lots doing that, especially on Procreate. Her final art would consist of putting these two images (AI and digital art) side by side in an attempt of questioning both mediums.
On both images, the left side is AI art, and the right side is digital art done on Procreate
Her art is also permeated by symbolisms: little lines and geometrical shapes that explains a lot about her lifelong fight against depression.
Christy is an introvert and, in real life, a very discrete person. She normally wears black and grey, and simple clothes, not to be noticed in the crowd, almost camouflaging herself. Even though she has strong opinions, she tends to keep quiet, even among good friends. The geometrical shapes are the same, they’re done to camouflage her art. What they do though, is make her artworks more visible and colorful. Christy thinks that it’s through her art that her true self can be seen.
She’s an arduous advocate for mental health awareness, having been diagnosed with depression since her early 20s. Almost all her artworks have those “little lines”, but hardly no one knows how important they are.
Her passions in art are many. Among Art History, writing and poetry; installation is a big art genre to her, she has always been curious to find out more about the artist’s thoughts behind them. In university, due to the big spaces in the institution, she was able to explore installations in her own terms and ideas. Her installations and later works for school are about depression and the importance of finding a path in life. Repetition is a big thing as well, it takes her to a completely different dimension, almost into a meditative state (just like when she used to swim, seeing those tiles repeatedly, turning and seeing the little brake in a certain tile, deep in thought or with her mind totally blank).
For her thesis, she found herself in deep trouble. Due to overmedication for depression, among other side effects, she started shaking a lot. She couldn’t handle brushes, pencils, pens, anything really.

CHRISTY LANDMANN LITTLE LINES
She decided then and there to show her most vulnerable side. Grabbed an ink pen (the most difficult tool for her at the time), ink, and a Japanese rice paper role about 600cm X 20cm. Christy started a diary, “a secret writing” or a drawing with her shaking hands. For each day she would fill in a space. It was almost like putting on paper her brain waves, kind of like an electrocardiogram, for the brain, showing the shaking. She’d do it daily, and it took months. Of course, she would cry, it wasn’t comfortable at all. But as an artist, sometimes, we must endure the weird and face our fears to get great results.
She did. And graduated with honors.
And that’s when her “little lines” began and where they come from.
Christy has many dreams and has much more to offer both in real life and virtually in the art realm.
